EL SEGUNDO (CBSLA.com) — On the first day Kobe Bryant practiced with his team this month, he called his teammates “soft as Charmin” in a heated exchange during Thursday’ scrimmage.
Just as practice was opened to the media, f-bombs started rolling toward his teammates and General Manager Mitch Kupchak.
“Nobody in the world can guard me one-on-one,” Bryant told guard Nick Young. “You’re going exactly where I want you to go.”
With a little bit of a quarter of the season played, the Lakers are on pace to win 24 games this season, three fewer than last year’s season.
“You motherf—— are soft like Charmin in this motherf—–,” Bryant yelled in front of the media. … Is this type of s— that’s going on in these practices? Now I see why we’ve lost 20 f—— games. We’re soft like Charmin. We’re soft like s—.”
After Bryant ripped the team during the “uncomfortable” scrimmage, he then turned his frustration to Kupchak.
“I’m supposed to practice and get better, Mitch?” Bryant told him on his way out to the training room. “I’m supposed to practice and get better. These motherf—— ain’t doing s— for me.”
Bryant hasn’t practiced much with the team because, at 36, he is still recovering from major surgeries he had last season.
The Lakers will face the defending champion Spurs on Friday in San Antonio.
