(CNN)Actor and comedian Reynaldo Rey died Thursday of complications from a stroke, his manager said.
Rey was 75.
Among his most popular works are the movies, "Friday," "White Men Can't Jump" and "Harlem Nights."
Rey suffered a stroke about a year ago. He died in Los Angeles, said his manager, Vanzil Burke.
According to a biography on Rey's website,
the actor was born in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma. He was reportedly a
member of the Harlem Theater Group, and appeared in 52 movies.
Rey
is survived by his wife, Evelyn, daughter Harla Major and sons Golden
Rey and Todd Murphy, as well as his 96-year old mother, Lillian Murray.
